When April hit and probably because I just celebrated my birthday on the 31st (which always makes me reflective), I looked back on what a crazy month March was. It brought a lot of changes.
The not so good:
- I got in a wreck on Feb. 18. I called it a fender bender. It was raining and dark and I rear-ended a truck that stopped short in front of me. Also, my brakes locked due to the rain. I was totally fine, but it bashed in the front 2 feet of my Hyundai Sonata and hit the radiator. So the insurance company called it a total.
- Hectic schedules for me and Brent with both of us working and me sometimes working long hours over several days
- Trying to spring clean our house and get organized. Something that needed to happen, but it's still tiring and takes hours/days!
The good:
- We bought not one car to replace my Hyundai... but TWO! Brent had already been planning to buy one to replace his 1994 Camry. We did a lot of research and found a dealership selling 2 awesome Corollas for great deals. Certified and everything. A 2008 and 2010. We bought 'em and having nearly new cars under a 5 year warranty feels great. A weight lifted off our shoulders.
- The spring cleaning feels good now that we're halfway through. We've taken it one room at a time and even cleaned out closets, under the bed and organized files. Ahh. House is lookin' good.
- We bought a couch! For those who have seen our current one, we DESPERATELY needed a new couch. Ours was bought used in 2005. Somehow, it got ripped up in several places. We even had the upholstery sewn together and it still ripped back. Moving and getting a puppy exacerbated it. Anyway, for my birthday last weekend, we found a beautiful L-shaped, beige, microfiber couch at JC Penny's that's made right in NC too. Those are the best couches, we were told. We can't wait for it to arrive. I should throw a dinner party to celebrate. No more being ashamed of my ripped couch!
- My birthday was the 31st. On Saturday, April 2nd, we celebrated in downtown LA with several close friends. I was so happy to hang out with everyone at two great bars: Library Bar and Mas Malo. Also, Brad took us to brunch the next morning and we had a fabulous time at BLD hearing about his adventures with his recent show about 'little people' wrestlers. It's debuting on Tru TV in a few months if you're curious. I know I am. :)
I'm glad there was more good than bad last month. Definitely had stressful moments. I'm looking forward to April and Easter. I'm hoping we can breath a little easier this month.
